 you know what? my mom is really funny lady. she is your typical singaporean. seriously. typical singaporean meaning : greedy. cheapskate. kiasu. the type who 'chope' a table by putting tisue. YES! she is my MOM! and she just embarrass me. well apparently. i caught her doing something that only those singaporean aunties do. YES! i caught GREEDILY taking free pink ribbon in METRO. as you know, there is a campaign going on to make people aware of breast cancer. so they have this pink ribbon campaign. and well. at that time in METRO, they gave away pink ribbons to those women to remind them to get a mammogram. well. my mom was walking in METRO when this salesperson came to her to 'so called' remind her to get a mammogram so that breast cancer can be prevented. well, my mom bragged on how she is still too young to even have cancer. as if cancer cells cares whether you are young or not. anyway, the salesperson then, took out this bowl filled with pink ribbons. so my mom without hesitation took one even before the the salesperson initiated to take. she took only one ribbon at first. however, she came back for more when nobody was guarding the bowl. she took another one. and another and another. i was so embarassed! that wasnt the only time. second story well. compass point have its new shoe shop. i dont know the name but the shop replaces charles and keith. here's how the story goes. my mom went into the shop just looking around. well,we were there to window shop anyways. that was when she saw their plastic bag. their plastic bag was so COOL! well, that caught my mom's eye. so guess what? she decided to buy a shoe JUST TO GET THE PLASTIC BAG. i was like YOU GOT TO BE KIDDING ME! well apparently, she was REALLY going to do it. jeez. & you know what? they say men is from Mars. women is from Venus. MOTHERS is from somewhere not even close to EARTH. oh well. so gonna alienate my MOM. Labels: story |
